Life is crazy and we all know that. Everyday brings unexpected moments, whether good or bad; those moments are what give us our personality and aspect on life. Majority of the songs on My Krazy Life show us why YG is an artist with plenty of ambition. YG is new to the world of main stream music, he’s a veteran when it comes to the hip-hop scene. With six mixtapes released before his debut album, it gave YG enough time to perfect his skill. Growing up in Compton, also being a member of the Tree Top Piru Bloods Gang, YG has plenty to share on why and how his life is crazy.
YG recorded the album to the provide some incite on his lifestyle which included the West Coast, parties, gangs and drugs. The first half of the album can be best described as a Saturday night party that you don’t want to end. The second half is more slower and laid back, which works for the album. It showcases how diverse YG can be. He has his edgy Rap songs and his typical life situation Hip-Hop/R&B tracks.
With quite a few features on the album, YG holds his own on each track. Artists such as Drake, Young Jeezy, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne, all add flavor to the album. The album would not be a perfect album without the features. If the album was only YG from start to finish, it would be a good album, but I feel it would be an empty album. Every artist who is on the album make it worth the listen. Again, as I mentioned earlier, YG show cases his diversity. This time it is shown in the various artists he picked up to offer a verse or a hook to a song.
The standard edition of the album comes with fourteen songs, but the deluxe edition offers three more tracks. These tracks include “When I Was Gone”, “Bompton” and the remix of YG’s massive single “My Ni**a”. The deluxe edition is not really worth the dollars unless you are a fan of YG’s or you like to have the best version of the album. The only track I really enjoyed from the Deluxe Edition was the “My Ni**a Remix”.
My Krazy Life is definitely an album worth listening to if you never heard YG’s past songs or if you’re looking for a good hip-hop artist to listen to. The album is like listening to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg back in the 90’s. Every song they put out was a major hit. So far each of YG’s singles have seen main stream success. My Krazy Life is my album of the month of March because it marks YG ‘s turning point in his career as well as his influence on the West Coast Hip-Hop scene.
