Peyton Breaks Brady’s Touchdown Record

This Sunday in a game against the Houston Texans, Peyton Manning broke Tom Brady’s touchdown record of fifty touchdown passes in one year when he completed his fifty-first touchdown pass to Julius Thomas. Peyton Manning has fifty-one touchdown passes this year, and he still has one more regular season game to play. Brady set the record back in 2007, when he threw a touchdown pass to Randy Moss in the final game of the season. That was arguably Brady’s best year and P. Manning is having his best year of his career, but it is yet to be determined if he will end the year with a Superbowl victory. As we know, Brady’s fifty touchdown pass year ended in a disappointment; him and the New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants in the Superbowl that year. I’m personally hoping for another clash of these two titans in the playoffs, but regardless, congratulations to Peyton Manning on another record-breaking achievement.

Close Calls for the Pats and Jets

The New England Patriots and New York Jets both had a tough time against their respective opponents in their opening games, but they both came out on top of the competition. Both teams won with a game winning field goal in the final seconds of the game; making them 1-0 for the new season. The Jets were saved at the last minute by a unnecessary roughness penalty called on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers within the final seconds of the game, setting up the Jets and their kicker Nick Folk in field goal range. He drilled the game winning field goal with a final score of 18-17, advantage Jets. The Patriots hit their game winning field goal against the Buffalo Bills after an impressive drive by Tom Brady and his troops (final score Pats-23/ Bills 21). It’s even more interesting to see the resemblance between the games since both the Pats and the Jets are in a very similar situation this season. The two teams are undergoing a major change in their offensive capabilities. The Jets are starting a new, inexperienced quarterback and the Patriots have an entirely different set of wide receivers and tight ends. Going forward it’ll be interesting to see if the QB Geno Smith can lead his Jets to consistent offensive success and also if Brady can rely on his new set of weapons to put some points on the board.

The Patriots and Jets are set to square off in week two of the NFL season.
